HAUNTED CABARET: Louisiana Town Destroyed

FROM THE FILES OF THE HAUNTED CABARET:
Town of Swampy Knoll "Wiped Off the Face of the Earth"

Two nights ago, reviewing my case files here at the Haunted Cabaret, I made a decision to close the Giant Catfish file. As you recall, a Giant Mutant Catfish, spawned by steroids and growth hormone, sexually assaulted and murdered several townspeople and National Guardsmen in the small town of Swampy Knoll, Louisiana several months ago.
Several months ago, right here on the WBOB Society page, I reported of the attacks, and the subsequent death of the monstrous Catfish at the hands of the Louisiana National Guard.  I also brought to life the lawsuit that followed these eerie instances. This lawsuit remains unresolved.

Unfortunately, as of last night, the horror deep in the Louisiana bayou also appears to be ongoing. Thus, closing the file on the Catfish Incident would be premature.

New information is scarce. My sources in Swampy Knoll have vanished with the town. There have been no more issues of the Bayou Denizen Newsletter. More disturbing, I have lost contact with the anonymous and courageous citizen who defied the order of government investigators, and the community's closed-mouth attitude, to update me on a regular basis. We can thank an itinerant musician named Richie Keeling for the present follow-up:

According to Richie's report to the Haunted Cabaret, he played a short acoustic set at a tavern called Mama Leone's, then sat in with a band called The Swamp Gas Regulars the rest of the evening. Google places Mama Leone's aproximately three miles from the township of Swampy Knoll. A fan of the Haunted Cabaret and other shows here at WBOB, Richie followed the Giant Catfish blogs with interest. The morning after his Swamp Gas Regulars gig, he hiked to Swampy Knoll to visit the scene of the horror in person. He planned to continue on to Stowall Junction by late afternoon.

Instead, by evening, Richie found himself being treated for shock, and interrogated by the Louisiana State Police. "There's a board nailed to a telephone pole just before the last bend in the road leading to town," Rick says. "The sign says, Welcome To Swampy Knoll, Pop. 240. That sign is the only thing still standing in the town."

He continues, "Picture Hiroshima after the A-bomb, or those poor bastards in Oklahoma after the tornado. Picture that, then picture the scattered debris covered in red splashes and sticky white stains. Flies in the blood and white sticky stuff. And an awful smell, like rotted fish and sewage. Big grooves in the mud, like something dragging itself that didn't have legs..."

Richie escaped custody to make his report. He promises to keep us updated whenever possible. The Haunted Cabaret and WBOB are looking for somebody brave and stupid enough to go to Louisiana and investigate.

Any takers?
