The House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, as it continues to review the state’s plans and status regarding the Ebola virus. The hearing will be held in Room 35 of the State House. Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston), HEW Chairman, has called this second hearing to continue to review the state’s health care preparations and prevention planning in respect to the virus. Invited to attend the hearing are: Michael Souza, president of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island; Jane Hayward, president and CEO, and Dr. Andrew Saal, MD, MPH, of the Rhode Island Health Centers Association; Nicholas A. Oliver, MPA, executive director of the Rhode Island Partnership for Home Care, and Dr. Peter Karczmar, MD, of the Rhode Island Medical Society. The hearing is open to the public, although no public testimony will be heard.
