A Malaysian flight carrying more than 290 passengers has been reported to have been shot down over Ukraine, near the Russian border. The plane was said to be flying at 30,000 feet when it was hit by a missile, Ukraine's interior minister told the Associated Press. A Buk ground to air missile was used to take down the plane according to Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister. There is said to be no survivors. Eyewitnesses said all that remained of the plane was a burning structure. |
