A staple of Providence's on-the-go dining scene hit the road this week, as Mama Kim's Korean BBQ announced it's closing its doors for good.
Mama Kim's was founded by Brown-grad Hyun Kim and his mother Soon Kim in 2011. They sold the restaurant in 2014 to then sous-chef, Don Felcher. Their delicious Korean cuisine was enjoyed from their food truck - often parked at Kennedy Plaza or at Brown University - or from their storefront in Silver Lake.
From Mama Kim's website
Everything about Mama Kim's is local. Awesome young chefs from Johnson & Wales cook our food the way it's supposed to be cooked. Our logo and truck design were made by RISD students. Brown Professors advise our enterprise. We have formed a strong partnership with local suppliers so that we can deliver amazingly fresh food at affordable prices. It's mom's great cooking, meet Rhode Island pride!
