After taking the first two games of the series (5-4 on Friday and 6-2 on Saturday), the PawSox were looking for their third straight victory over the Durham Bulls. On the mound for the PawSox was Henry Owens (3-3, 3.19) was looking to go up against Brent Honeywell (3-4, 3.69) in Sunday’s midday matinee. However the star of the game was not a pitcher, rather it was the PawSox batters.
'After going down 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning, the PawSox sent all 9 batters in their lineup to the player as they smacked Honeywell around 5 times for 5 runs, including a grand slam by Steve Selsky and regained the lead 5-1. After back-to-back innings of solo shot home runs by DH Rusney Castillo & Selsky, the PawSox staked out a 7-1 lead.
On the mound, it was a strong start for Henry Owens. He ended up going 6 strong innings, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7 on a season high 110 pitches to pick up his 4th victory of the season.
After the game, PawSox manager Kevin Boles spoke with the media. With a smile on his face, Boles talked about the sudden explosion of offensive in the first three innings, the performance of Steve Selsky, Owens' performance on the mound, and much more.
