Last week, the New England Patriots faced off against an AFC East divisional rival in the Miami Dolphins at home. But instead of christening the new season with a win, the Patriots fumbled away the victory and wound up taking a sloppy 17-16 loss. Looking to shake off loss, they travelled down to the swamps of East Rutherford, New Jersey to face off against a familiar punching bag…I mean AFC East rival, the New York Jets. The Jets, coming off a 19-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers last week, were also hungry to get their first victory of the season with their own rookie QB, Zach Wilson Jr. However, it was defense that dictated the game with each side making plays when they needed to. But only one team was able to capitalize on their defense’s play and spoiler alert…it wasn’t the Jets. On this episode of The Last Slice Podcast the dough boys honor the heroes we lost and pay tribute to all the victims of that tragic day of September 11th, 2001. We share our memories of that day and highlight a few of many who risked their lives and showed heroism that day to save others. We want to say Peace and Love to everyone who lost a loved one that day.

After a disappointing 2020 season that saw the team go 7-9 and miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008, the New England Patriots went into the offseason with a lot of questions and uncertainty. But the team went through a roster change as they added key free agents like TE Jonnu Smith, DB Jalen Mills, and WR Nelson Agholor as well as made a big change at quarterback as they went with rookie QB Mac Jones (who they took at 15th overall out of Alabama in the 2021 NFL Draft) and cut last year’s starting QB Cam Newton just a week before the start of the regular season. With a new looking and wanting to shake off a terrible 2020 season, the Patriots began the 2021 NFL season with a sense of optimism. They opened up at home at Gillette Stadium, welcoming in their AFC East divisional rivals the Miami Dolphins a warm, September day. Instead of an offensive shootout between two teams with former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterbacks (Tua Tagovailoa for the Dolphins and Mac Jones for the Patriots), it was a defensive showdown with some sloppy play on both sides. But in the end, it’s was the Patriots’ sloppiness that utimately cost them. Check out our review of "Shang-Chi and The Legends of The Ten Rings" , the new installment in Phase 4 of the MCU. Today, SNICKERS® 'The Official Chocolate Bar Sponsor of the NFL,' announced a new program to get fans even more excited for football season, playfully dubbed "SNICKERS Rookie Mistake of the Year". The program will celebrate the rookie mistakes that fans share during the NFL season, because maybe they just needed a SNICKERS. A rookie mistake isn't an error that occurs due to bad luck, but instead it's a funny misstep made when you're off your game. It's unlikely that a rookie mistake is made twice, especially after having a SNICKERS. For example, forgetting your phone with a link to your tickets on the charger at home - rookie mistake. Or heading out on a week-long vacation and forgetting to put up your out of office - another classic rookie mistake. |
