Providence Mayoral Race: Smiley Leads in Fundraising

The five Providence Mayoral candidates released their campaign fundraising totals this week, and Democrat Brett Smiley leads the pack, with just over $250,000.00 in funds.  City Council president Michael Solomon remains close behind, followed by Lorne Adrain, and Jorge Elorza.  The sole GOP candidate, Dr. Daniel Harrop remains in last place, having raised just over $50,000.

What does this mean?  Who knows.  Many consider Solomon, based on his City Hall experience and presence with the city to be the lead candidate, but, Smiley has also been a loud presence in the community during the race. 

However, if Buddy Cianci throws his hat into the ring, and all indications are that he will, all bets are off.
