Kevin Aherne (@KAherne17) Scientific? No. Telling? Yes. Surprising? Not at all. Organic tea company Honest Tea (subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company) ranks Providence as America's Least Honest City in their 2014 National Honesty Index. The survey was based on unmanned honor-system street racks placed in 60 cities across the U.S. which featured Honest Tea beverages for one dollar. In all, 28,000 beverages were dispersed, 95 percent of which were paid for. Women proved to be slightly more honest than men (95% versus 93%) and blonde turned out to be the most honest hair color (95%), redheads were least honest at 91 percent. Providence had the worst showing among cities at 80 percent honesty, and was one of only three U.S. cities with an honesty level below 85 percent, the others being Milwaukee (84%) and Minneapolis (81%). And in San Diego, one person attempted to steal the honor system cash box, an Honesty Index first. Here are the Top (and Bottom) Cities: Top 5 5. Birmingham, AL - 99% 4. Nashville, TN - 99% 3.
