Gargoyles Performance Eyewear, marketed by FGX International, the world’s leading designer and marketer of non-prescription reading glasses and sunglasses donated nearly $3000 to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island (OSDRI) to benefit Rhode Island veterans in need.
During the company’s annual summer employee picnic, hundreds of employees were given the opportunity to purchase the Gargoyle brand sunglasses at a discounted price with the proceeds of sales going to OSDRI.  Operation Stand Down, is Rhode Island’s primary veteran non-profit organization providing housing, employment and training and supportive services to low income and homeless veterans.  In addition to the monetary donation, FGX senior management has made a commitment to work with Operation Stand Down and hire out-of-work veterans to fill roles within the expanding company.

"FGX is pleased to support an organization that helps our nation's heroes. The work that OSDRI does a great service to our community and we hope to continue such efforts in the future," said Laura Burkett, Gargoyles Brand Manager.

“OSDRI greatly appreciates the financial support of FGX International and the Gargoyle Team. The generosity of the company and their employees will assist many Rhode Island veterans in need,” said Executive Director of Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, Erik B. Wallin.  “Having responsible corporate citizens like FGX International, is critical to the philanthropic activities of non-profits like OSDRI and to our ability to place qualified veterans in jobs with advancement opportunities.”
