Rhode Island State Police Arrests Suspect for DUI After Striking a Marked State Police Cruiser3/7/2014 Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces that at 3:08 p.m., on March 6, 2014, members of the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested a subject for Driving Under the Influence after his vehicle struck a marked State Police Cruiser on Potters Avenue in the City of Providence. A Trooper was parked in his marked cruiser, facing north against the curb on Potters Avenue. A Ford F-150, traveling north on Potters, sideswiped the marked cruiser as it passed by. No injuries were sustained. The operator was identified as Paulo Ciprian Gutierrez, age 35, of 766 Atwells Avenue in Providence, RI. Mr. Gutierrez was arrested, transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks and charged with the following: • Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs First Offense (BAC: first reading .205 / second reading .200) • Driving Without a License • Immigration Detainer issued by ICE Mr. Gutierrez was held overnight pending a morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court. |
