Ed Doyle -- Political Columnist, Host I Want My Ed TV The political game has always been plagued with dishonesty, graft and shadowy figures with a plan and a full wallet but never has the extent of greed, corruption and deceit to the voters and taxpayers been seen as paramount as it has been seen in Rhode Island. Sadly known as the most corrupt little state in the union, Rhode Island this year has stooped to lows even common thieves and criminals cannot believe. There is the uncovering of ill-gotten money and payoffs from the 38 Studios $78 million disaster now faced by the Rhode Island taxpayers. We have found that the state was warned NOT to issue the loan but in the back rooms of the State House those that saw a cash cow for themselves decided otherwise. It appears that money was funneled from the loan to put a sound system in a key figure’s restaurant, a close associate of a law maker that stood to make millions on the deal and we now have contractors that the state has filed suit against being re-hired to be paid by the state. Let’s however take a good look into a State Representative whose husband with a record that stretches back to 1989, who has pled guilty to each and every count of drunk driving, driving with a suspended license, credit card fraud, larceny, fugitive from justice, forgery and counterfeiting, aggravated identity theft and defrauding the federal government, that tells her voters in her re-election bid that she knew nothing of any of his crimes. She wants us to believe that items purchased with the stolen credit cards that mysteriously appeared in the house she lives in raised no questions of their origin from a man with no job? We must assume that the $58,000.00 in social security fraud from claiming that he was a homeless disabled man must have also simply been found on the side of the road or rained down from the clouds as far as the Representative from Johnston knows. One would think that the Representative, put in office by people that trusted her to be able to know good from bad and stand up to protect working families and the elderly such as the elderly man that her husband stole credit cards from, would let the people know that she condemned his actions and apologize to her district’s voters and the people of Rhode Island. She did however make a comment to the hard working voters that obey the law and pay their taxes, according to an article in the Johnston Sunrise newspaper she stated, “Henry is a good man!” One would think that anyone that was elected to represent hard working families would have the decency to resign her office as many say she should have done. No, sadly, this unethical and borderline immoral Rhode Island state official says, vote for me again. At least Gordon Fox, who has not even admitted to any wrong doings after the FBI raided his office at the state house, thought highly enough of the taxpayers of Rhode Island to step down as speaker of the house for the sake of Rhode Island. It will be interesting to see who throws their support behind Representative Fellela for re-election. By doing so not only are they supporting a Representative that has a voting record that continually hurt the tax payers of the state throughout her years in office, but they will also be telling the children of Rhode Island and our hard working tax paying residents that they support arrogance, deceit and the continual crushing of our populace. Rhode Island you have completely failed.
