Combining the styles of bebop jazz, funk, R&B and hip-hop that are guaranteed to make you groove, 7-piece Providence band Milkbread has a sound that is simply out of this world. Speaking of out of this world, these guys have their self-titled debut currently out and it's uniquely fantastic. Milkbread has a melting pot of creative energy that exudes through every track, mind-blowing tunes that are nearly impossible to compare to anything else.

Their debut was recorded at No Boundaries Studios in Providence while being produced by Chris Piquette. In case you're reading this from a shack in Madagascar somewhere, Milkbread consists of Ben Shaw spitting rhymes of hot fire to go along with his tenor sax, Seth Bailey on trumpet, Chris Gagnon on alto and tenor sax, Matt Reagan on guitar, Brendan Moore on keyboards, Dylan LaGamma on bass and Dylan Sevey on drums, percussion and backing vocals. Together these guys make amazing music that will make you bob your head and put a smile on your face. If you're looking for something to ease your mind while at the same time putting you in a really good mood, Milkbread is definitely your cup of tea.

- Rob Duguay
Bring on the rhythmic firing squad, it's time to decide which tracks are given the spotlight and while the others are left to the adventurous imagination. It's never easy, it's like picking my favorite kind of dollar bill or even my favorite kind of beer. Regardless of what I say, every track off of Milkbread's debut is spectacular. Anyways, here goes something: "Sweet Ride" showcases dynamic riffs from Reagan that make you want to go absolutely crazy and form a one-man mosh pit wherever you are. "This Is" features the beautiful horn section that Milkbread has to go along with Shaw's machine gun style delivery of epic rhymes and Sevey's harmonic backing vocals. "Frame" makes me think of going to the beach and enjoying the sunset, you have to hear the track and you'll get the vibe I feel. Now don't just sit there while reading this and be lame, grab a copy of Milkbread's debut to treat yourself to a magnificent record.

You can catch Milkbread performing at The Rosebud in Somerville, MA this Saturday on December 15th and it'll be a great opportunity to grab a copy of the album. Sevey also runs the open mic at The Apartment on 373 Richmond Street in Providence where you can catch some of the best undiscovered talent The Creative Capital has to offer. Until Milkbread comes to your neighborhood, grab a copy of their self-titled debut. It'll put you in a state of blissful ecstacy.
