Taste Test: Shake Shack's Secret Burger

​Some restaurants have certain menus that are not well known to the public, usually they are done by fast food restaurants, and are called “secret menus”. Places from In-N-Out Burger, to Starbucks, to shake shack have these types of menus that are only known by certain people that know how to use Google search. Yeah that’s right, you can find all the secret menus on Google, so they may not be as secret as you think. But the truth about the Secret menu is that they don’t show up on your everyday menu, so I guess you can say they’re secret enough.

The secret item I decided to taste test was one that is a strange enough combo to make people cringe just by hearing what’s in it. A peanut butter bacon burger from Shake Shack, yup that’s right...Peanut butter on a burger. I was hesitant to try this odd combination, but like always I can never disappoint and must try everything.

The burger was extremely simple, two toasted buns, a patty, a slice of bacon, and a cup of liquid peanut butter on the side. I wasn’t sure how much of the PB  I should pour on my burger so I just said, “F it” and poured the whole cup on. I nervously went in for my first bite not knowing what to expect, because all I ever have peanut butter on is a PB&J or a banana. This was a whole new experience I wasn’t sure if I was prepared for.

Well once I bit into this unique culinary experience I was shocked. It was absolutely delicious from the crisp burger to the tasty bacon, to the creamy peanut butter, it all complimented each other beautifully on my taste buds. Sadly enough this might be something I begin to do while just making a burger on a Sunday afternoon, I don’t care how wild it makes me seem, this combo is better than you’d expect. I put that burger away faster than I’m proud to admit, but it was well worth it. I had to take this secret item out of the shadows and bring it to the light so more burger fanatics like me can be enlightened on some of the different toppings that make a great burger.

So go down to your local shake shack and give this burger a try, if you love burgers and you love peanut butter I promise this won’t disgrace your taste buds.
