Scott Rotondo When I heard about the KFC Cheeto sandwich, I admit I was intrigued. I generally indulge in some good old fast food before any of my appearances in 990WBOB - being partial to the New York System and Burger King. So, this gave me a chance to expend my horizons a little bit, and try to think outside the box. Not too long ago, I took a chance on a warm, sultry Monday night, and stopped in to try this new combination and see what it was all about. The presentation of this sandwich was really good. Definitely appetizing to look at, crispy chicken with Cheetos in it, and on a nice bun. The chicken was, as usual, really good. What I would expect from KFC. Not overdone, but just that right amount of crispness and seasoning to add some zest to the chicken. However, overall the sandwich was not outstanding. Don’t get me wrong it was good, I ate it all. But, I felt that the crispiness of the chicken along with the crunchiness of the Cheetos just didn’t set my palate ablaze. Maybe it's just because in my mind, Cheetos are a late night snack and KFC is dinner. Maybe having both at the time set off a sort of cognitive dissonance. It was fun as a one-off but I wouldn’t say that I am craving another. That being said, I would be interested in trying other fast food mashups to compare and contrast. Verdict: Not bad, but not great Grade: C Read More 990WBOB |
