Christian Martinelli Politics is so interesting, because everyone has all the answers but no one can get anything done. That’s the real issue in this great country we call America, nothing of importance ever seems to get done by the elected lawmakers. They often seem to be interested in deadlocking the other party from making any progress or just spend all their time getting re-elected instead of trying to make change. Many different political positions have term limits, mayor is usually eight years, President eight years, and wait what’s this? Congress has no term limit? Yes, it’s true and unfortunate, the Congress has no term limits and it has caused so much stagnancy in politics for decades. Congressmen and women have a massive responsibility to make the changes in Washington DC that their state elected them to make. That being said, the changes we often expect Congress to make often never happen. One of the biggest issues with this is the fact that some congressional members have been in office for decades. As voters we frankly do a terrible job getting these dinosaurs out of office, we consistently vote for the same people even though they don’t do anything besides go to corporate lunches in DC. Turnover in office is usually for the best, it doesn’t give a singular person too much power and it keeps new, creative ideas rolling in. Congress is filled with old people with old ideologies that keep getting re-elected based off of their name, rather than the things they’ve actually accomplished. The same faces for decades has made it so difficult for anything worthwhile to get passed, and it’s a massive issue for this country. Terms are there for a reason and it’s time that Congress puts this into place as well. The political system is stale, and nothing is ever getting accomplished, and it starts with the lawmakers in Congress. It’s time to put a term limit on these old bags, two terms of four years is great. There shouldn’t be decade long Congress people, all that does is lead to a stagnant country instead of one moving forward with new ideas and leaders. Read More 990WBOB |
