The Buck Stopper: Day Two... Back On Track

PictureCould you Thrive for Seven Days on 60 Dollars?
As much as I love waking up and getting my morning coffee from a local brew house, it’s not a realistic or prudent way to spend the remainder of my meager resources. Although its less than three dollars, that small expense accounts for nearly 40% of my daily budget. So cutting it out is a logical and necessary choice.

48 hours into my self-induced poverty expedition, I am starting to feel the pinch. It’s not as if I normally live a posh or lavish lifestyle, but getting by on less than nine US Dollars a day is not a simple task. Despite the hardship, I continue to find (and receive great suggestions for) numerous great events in and around Providence that are frugally fun.

So, let me describe how I got by on Tuesday.

As mentioned, I steered clear of the coffee house, and went for some homemade freeze dried crystals.  Not quite the same, but the $2.75 I saved will come in handy.  I went about my day, ate a good old fashioned PB&J for lunch, and around 4:30 was ready for some dinner.  One of the hidden gems in downtown Providence for the wallet conscious consumer is the McCormick & Schmick's Happy Hour Menu.  This is a high end steak and seafood restaurant that, twice per day, offers a phenomenal bar menu with several delicious items priced lower than most fast food restaurant menus.

From McCormick's, I headed straight over to the WBOB Studios and spent a few hours editing and working the producer's booth.  I got to hang out with great BOB personalities like Kris Hansen, George Goner, The Pal, and Joe Ferro.  After the season premiere of the Franchise, Mr. Ferro and I were planning on heading back over to The Apartment to catch their free Blues & Jazz concert, but ended up bowing out after rocking too hard in the studio all night.
