The world can be a strange place.  

Every day we hear stories, see things, and  encounter people who cause us to shake our heads in disbelief.  Sometimes, these are funny things, but often they are a symptom of the sad state of our current society.

Let's take a look at the highlights (or low-lights) from this week in the first edition of:

Fokken Whores

They say it is the world's oldest profession, and these may be the oldest of the professionals.  Meet Martine and Lousie Fokken, who at age 70 are the oldest prostitues in Amsterdam... as well as twin sisters.  They have now achieved celebrity status with the release of a new documentary, Meet the Fokkens,  which chronicles their century's worth of combined experience.  Not only have they been in the game since before the Beetles, but they still maintain a strong book of business, staying competitive with much younger girls of Amsterdam's famed "Red-Light District," because according to them:
”We know the tricks, we know what they want. We know how to talk to them and we know how to make them laugh too.” ”Honeybee come to me.”

Ride That Pony

Meet Patrick Linn, a 44-year old man who was arrested on Monday, charged with a crime that he has already served time for.  The offense: Sexual relations with a horse... the same exact horse that got him locked up in 2010.The horse's owner became concerned when he found a bottle of lubricant in the barn and noticed that one of the horses had been “cleaned."   He contacted authorities, who set up surveylence, promplty catching the pony-phile in the act.  He was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, burglary, and of course sexual activity involving animals.  The heart wants what the heart wants, and at least it was the same horse.  Only in Florida.

Japanamaniacs

No, than is not a realistic computer Japanimated image, but rather a photograph of Anastasiya Shapigna.  This 19-year old Ukranian woman has such an obsession with anime that she has transformed herself into a real-life cartoon character, with giant eyes and a petite body.  With the use of custom contact lenses, white makeup and creatively applied eyeliner, the 85 pound woman pulls off the look that most of us have only seen in odd Asian cartoons.  Anastasiya, who also goes by the name Fukkacumi, also plans to go under the knife to make many of these features permanent.

Training Day

Some people have bad days.  A Kamloops, British Columbia man had the mother of bad days.  He set a field  ablaze after passing out drunk in a field with a lit cigarette.  Awoken by his burning clothes and flesh, this un-named man then stole a bicycle in order to flee the scene.  While on the stolen bike, he crossed rail tracks and was promptly struck by a train.  He is currently listed in serious condition with 3rd degree burns, and a severe head wound... Oh and one more thing... he is also currently awaiting charges for the unprovoked assault of a bus driver.
