The Raimondo for Governor campaign will begin airing a new television commercial on Thursday, called “Back to Work.” The new spot explains the General Treasurer’s plan to reinvigorate the state’s manufacturing economy by turning the good ideas coming out of our colleges and universities into products we make in Rhode Island. See the ad below “Turning our economy around means making things in Rhode Island again,” said Raimondo. “For the first time in decades, manufacturing is coming back from overseas and we have to make sure we are bringing those jobs here. But it’s not the old manufacturing of jewelry and textiles. It is advanced, high-tech manufacturing that will require new skills and innovative approaches to design and production. And to attract them, we’ll need to make our state a source of innovation, and equip our workers with the training they’ll need to build new products. My manufacturing plan is designed to prepare Rhode Island to do just that.” Raimondo’s manufacturing plan will focus on areas where Rhode Island is poised for growth such as marine science, green technology and medical devices. By making Rhode Island a hub of innovation, Raimondo intends to attract good, high-skill, high-pay jobs. Jobs in the manufacturing sector pay higher wages than jobs in other industries and provide good benefits. Every dollar in manufacturing sales adds another $1.34 to the local economy. The ad is airing on broadcast and cable. |
