WATCH: Chafee Announces Possible 2016 Presidential Campaign with Video

In a shocking announcement, former Rhode Island Governor and U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee announced Thursday that he has formed an exploratory committee to consider a run for U.S. President in 2016. 

Chafee, who was a member of the Republican party until 2007, served just one term as governor, and did not seek re-election in 2014. From 1999 through 2007, he was a U.S. Senator from Rhode Island, and was mayor of Warwick from 1992 through 1999.
