WildSide David Clyde To serve the people you must first respect the people. Such is the golden rule of politics, a rule that is bent far too often. In Rhode Island we don’t just bend this rule we break it in several places then stamp on it for good measure. We have all been painfully aware as of late, of the political circus that we currently have on display here in Rhode Island. FBI and State Police raids on the state house, rumors of wrong doing from the Governor’s office, Congressmen, Senators and it goes right down to the General Assembly and
the representatives that were elected to bring the people’s needs to the attention of the law makers and to stand and fight for them. What do you do however when your immediate family, your spouse of all people, not only steals from the people, and I don’t mean tax money and grants, I mean physically tampers with the US mail and steals your identity and credit cards? What do you say to an elected official whose spouse that lives in your house every day, every week, every month and every year defrauds the government and brings money into your house under the lie that he is a homeless disabled person and collects over $58,000 in benefits all while she cooks his macaroni and cheese each night? I would first think one would ask how she thought the extra money was being brought into the house. Where were the checks cashed and with what bank account? What was put on the tax returns? And how could you continue to sit in the General Assembly and walk among your constituents like you were as innocent as a babe? This is the case of State Representative Deborah Fellela and her husband Henry Fellela Jr. that has just pleaded guilty to five felony crimes. He faces 37 years in prison and $1.25 million in fines. He purchased a big screen TV amongst other electronics for their home with stolen credit cards. Did she sit and watch that TV? Did she think the TV fairy hung it on the wall while she was sleeping? The worst part of this entire story that can only happen in Rhode Island is that Henry Fellela Jr., that will be very shortly only worried about hanging on to the soap in the shower, actually has the audacity to start attacking other candidates and politicians. Has there been any public statement from his wife Rep Deb Fellela to denounce these actions to show that she truly respects the people that she was elected by? Not a peep! Not an apology, not one single word except to have the nerve to start putting her campaign signs on Greenville Avenue in Johnston. The people of Johnston should not only be outraged and disgusted at their representative but should demand that she step down from her seat in the General Assembly. Her husband and her refusal to denounce his actions are adding to the already horrible reputation that the Rhode Island political scene is but is now making Johnston look like a den of thieves. Rhode Islanders and especially the voters of Johnston have a golden opportunity this year to fight for honesty and the rights of their families. That opportunity comes in the form of the voting booth. Send Mrs. Henry Fellela Jr. packing. I am proud to endorse Ed Doyle for State Representative of Johnston RI. District 43 |
