“Once upon a time there were three women who were sent to Washington, D.C. They were charged with very important duties. But liberalism took them away from all that and now I have to work with them. My name is Charlie.” “Good Morning Angels” I’ve never been a fan of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). He’s always reminded me of the shifty-eyed, hypocritical, sniveling kid in school, who’s only way to endear teachers to him was by ratting out everyone but himself. 2019 has been challenging for the first New Yorker, as well as the first Jewish person, to serve as Senate leader, but in ways I’m sure he never would have imagined. “The Celtics will finish with a record of 64-18 this season, have the top spot in the East, and will beat the Golden State Warriors dynasty in 6 games to win the 2018-2019 NBA Finals.” This was me before the NBA season started heaping these lofty expectations upon this Celtics squad. Here we sit 58 games in and the Celtics boast a record of 37-21 and are currently tied for the four seed in the Eastern Conference. They have three more losses before the All-Star break than I predicted they would have all season. Sure, I’m happy to shoulder some responsibility in overestimating their capabilities, but there’s a serious issue on this team. It’s certainly not talent related. Tyler Krusz
It took me a week to be able to process last week’s loss to Dayton at home. URI played, arguably, their worst game of the season. But I still think they can win the Atlantic 10 tournament. Here’s why. Bill Bartholomew
2018 was a particularly challenging year for the city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, with the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox (known as the PawSox, through 2020) indicating their plans to depart the municipality, the announced closure of Memorial Hospital, and the looming possibility of mainstay economic driver Hasbro relocating within or outside of the state. Powerful pianists, singing storytellers, swinging big bands, a beat scientist and some of the baddest ensembles on the jazz scene make up the First Wave of artists announced today for the 65th edition of the Newport Jazz Festival® presented by Natixis Investment Managers. Curated by Artistic Director Christian McBride, the Festival takes place August 2-4 at Fort Adams State Park and the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino. |
