You’ve heard the old story of David and Goliath. David is a small boy, and takes down a large man with a slingshot in what is probably the biggest upset of all time. We almost always root for the underdog to win. It’s something exciting. The little guy deserves a win every now and then. But sometimes the little guy is absolutely nuts, and that uphill battle is the equivalent of getting away with murder when there are multiple pieces of evidence against you. OJ got away with murder, but I do not expect everyone in a situation like that to get a lucky break. That includes North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who is in the news more and more frequently with reports of new missile testing on what feels like a daily basis. Can this world leader really get away with threatening the United States with nuclear weapons?

It was a beautiful day at McCoy Stadium for the last home game of the 2017 season for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Coming off a 5-3 last Saturday, the PawSox were looking to close out their home finale against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. In front of a crowd of 8,207, the PawSox took the field one last time in front of their home crowd in 2017.

No matter what, every year, fans seem to think preseason football games are the most important things. Summer League basketball. MLB spring training. All are must watch events. And more importantly, need to be talked about non-stop like they matter. They definitely do matter. Preseason exhibition games are very helpful for players, coaches, and front office personnel. Players learn how to work with their new teammates, and role players battle it out to determine who will make the team. Coaches learn what’s working and what isn’t. They’ll determine if new plays need to be added, who plays well together, etc. Front office personnel make the decisions as to who will make the team.

It’s here. Saturday, it is finally here. No, I am not talking about the ‘Super Fight’ between boxing great Floyd Mayweather and UFC Champion Connor McGregor, but about college football, as the season kicks off this weekend. While the nation waits for the main course next weekend with #1 Alabama and #3 Florida State meeting in the biggest opening week game in collegiate football history, this Saturday serves as a tasty little appetizer to wet your pallet for what will be another exciting season in the NCAA.

Rum is well and truly shifting its reputation as the spirit only for pirates. It is taking over drinks menus of the hottest bars, being supped by the super sophisticated as an aperitif and converting even the most fanatical after-dinner whisky and cognac drinkers, to become their digestif of choice.
