Allan Giberti The Democrat 2020 platform should honestly be called the “No Solution Platform” because that is all they have to offer. No solutions. Although if you were look at it through a liberal’s eyes, that would be furthest from the truth. It all depends on your definition of the word “solution.” As far as I can tell that has been the generally accepted definition of the word. But as we all know, the Democrats consistently try to redefine words to their advantage. The currently accepted Democrat definition of the word “solution” is as follows:
Don’t be surprised to one day see a Webster’s Liberal – English Dictionary on the shelves of your nearest bookstore. As of this writing, there are twenty-five Democrats competing for the nomination. We watch in horror as the Elizabeth Warrens try to out virtue signal the Pete Buttigiegs, and we are witness to the slow demise of the rest of the contestants as they are drug further to the left. The Democrats are not interested in fixing anything. They are only interested in winning elections. After years of kicking the can down the road, the issues have become crises and fixing them, actually fixing them, will take time and disrupt the status quo. Some problems will take longer than an election cycle, and politicians want something to show the voters. If you don’t have anything to show, cash is just as good. Instead of coming up with solutions to combat inner-city poverty, they should also be working on solutions to end the causes of inner-city poverty. The Democrats solution is guaranteed income. I have some questions about the effects of this solution. If every American citizen was guaranteed an income of $100,000 a year and received a monthly government dividend of roughly $8333.00, how much do you think a box of cereal is going to cost? Do you think it would be the same five dollars and change it costs now? Somehow, I doubt it. I could charge twenty dollars, and if it was your favorite cereal you wouldn’t bat an eye. Heck, I could easily raise it to thirty dollars which is a drop in the bucket when your average weekly “income” is over $2000.00. The next question is who’s paying for this? The only thing a “solution” like this would do is create more dependency and the only thing that leads to is more Democrat voters. In taking on the issue of the cost of college, Elizabeth Warren wants to erase student loan debt and new statistics show that this debt has climbed to $1.5 trillion. Cory Booker believes the solution to the problem are his “baby bonds.” Every child born in the United States would receive a savings account with $1,000 and every year up to $2000 would be deposited into it until the child turns 18. If the cost of college continues to rise at its current rate, in twenty years parents could be looking at tuition costs of up to $400,000. Rather than work to solve the problem of skyrocketing cost of college tuition, their solution is to either let the government pay for it, or directly give children the money they’ll need to attend college. Just like in the cereal scenario, college will suddenly get much more expensive. Once again, who’s paying for this? Oh, by the way, in twenty years the projected tuition costs for public in-state tuition in Rhode Island will be $105,327. For public out-of-state tuition, it will be $264,676. For private tuition you’re looking at $446,338. We already know who’s going to be paying for this “Promise.” Don’t even bother to inquire about the issue of illegal immigration because somehow giving illegal aliens free healthcare and a free college education is a solution. Yes, you read that last part right. Illegal aliens in the United States of America can, and will, be able to get one of those fancy educations that you and I pay for. If you pick any issue, the underlying strategy to just about any Democrat solution is to buy a bigger band-aid than before. In Democrat controlled cities like Seattle, San Francisco or Los Angeles, homelessness and drug use are rampant. Clearly the singular compassion strategy is not the solution, and in cases of the opioid crisis it has made it worse. Stopping the drugs pouring into our country is the solution we should be working for, not just making those who suffer from it more comfortable until their ultimate demise. I thought the Democrats only did that with newborns. Allan Giberti is the host of RI Red Radio on 990WBOB.com. You can listen to Allan live on Mondays at 7pm and Tuesdays at 8pm. All times Eastern.
