Ryan L. Fox Well we are in the dog days of summer here in August. So with fall just over the horizon, grills are heating up with various meats to be cooked. This is no different from the fast food industry. Recently, Burger King has come out with a new type of burger. This time around, they decided to add an ingredient that normal you don’t find on a regular burger: garlic. Yup, they added garlic to their newest burger on the menu: the Garlic & Bacon King. The Bacon & Garlic King burger is exactly what it says it is. It’s a burger that is topped with both bacon and garlic. Now I bet that when people, including myself, first heard that, they thought that there would be some sort of fresh minced or sautéed garlic on the patty, that the garlic would be in the mayonnaise like a garlic aioli sauce, or that the patty itself would be infused with garlic. Instead, they used garlic in a different way. The garlic is like fried chip-like item that has a little crunch to it. It’s not too salty or overly powering in garlic bitterness (as the case if you burn garlic trying to sauté it) but it adds a little flavor to the burger itself. It comes in two varieties: a single or double patty for you meat lovers out there. Curious, I decided to try out the burger. I had already tried Burger King’s plant-based Impossible Whooper in the past (and had good results about it) so I figured why not give the Bacon & Garlic King a shot. Upon the first bite of the burger, I was expecting some sort of immediate garlicy or a small bitter taste based from the fried ‘garlic chips’ sprinkled all over the patty. Instead, I got a smooth taste with the right amount of saltiness that added flavor to the patty instead of overtaking it. There were some parts of the burger that I bit into that had a little extra garlic chips but luckily my mouth wasn’t flooded to the point where I had to put the burger down. Overall, I was a somewhat impressed with how the Bacon & Garlic Burger turned out. It’s not a food item that is going to knock you off your feet or overwhelm your taste buds. It’s a quaint little burger with a little garlic kick to it to add a little zest with each bite. Perhaps one slight change that I would make to it would be to replace the typical mayo sauce to a sweeter barbecue sauce item to bring a perfect balance of sweetness to fried garlic chips’ bitterness. If you enjoy a little garlic on your food, this burger is for you. Overall Score3.5 out of 5 Bobheads and a Sandoval Landscaping Coupon Read More 990WBOB |
