Pal This week I had the opportunity to sit down with former political candidate for congress, blue collar trucker and RI activist DJ Guilmette to discuss his views and his new podcast here on 990WBOB. Pal - Who Is DJ Guilmette, activist, politician, radio host? DJ - Young, honest and simple man who is very patriotic. Love this country, it's culture & history. Speaking my mind, sometimes out loud, is one thing I'm very good at. I consider myself an activist for Liberty and what this country was founded on. I think that's very important. It's important for everyone, of every age, color and creed. Running for Congress had it's failures, in that I didn't "win". Though I learned a great deal, for that I grew. I won morally because I didn't quit when many people said to. I am the common man that's been through the struggles like everyone else, works hard every day like everyone else. Every day is a new beginning. Every day has a story. Pal - How have all these experiences prepared you for your own show? DJ - Like everyone else, I've had my fair shares of knock downs and having to get back up. Those failures and successes. From there, I grow, learn and try to be a better person than I was the day before.I take my life experiences with me behind the mic, to give all of you a unique perspective on many things. My family and my friends have shaped me who I am today. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have the kind of drive I have. I take all of that with me in studio! All views and opinions are of my own! Pal - You've named your show the Rhode To Liberty, what does that term mean to you? DJ - The 'road' to liberty should be a never ending road! People should want to fight for their unalienable rights! Every day is a drive to achieve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! Pal - What can listeners expect to hear during your show? DJ - Listeners can expect to hear the unadulterated truths and opinions from me on a wide variety of subjects. Love it or hate it, it's real! Pal - You love sports that's clear but were do your allegiance lay and why? DJ - I grew up a Patriots fan. We used to watch the team practice at Bryant University where I got to meet many players. It was incredible. We lasted through the tough years of disappointments. For the last 20 years, I'm grateful to have seen some incredible years as a Pats fan! Also grew up a Red Sox AND a Yankees fan, if you can believe that! I grew to love the game in general and have seen many ball games at many ballparks. In the last few years, I've become a big Tampa Bay Rays fan. I love the underdog play and mentality! Yup, Rays and Patriots, Bruins and Celts! Pal - You've spent sometime working with a few notable WBOB hosts what takeaways do you have funny, educational, inspirational or otherwise? DJ - Each person I've co-hosted with has been a great experience. Tyler, Allen and Scott are all great guys with tremendous talent. They're able to entertain and engage the listeners with plenty of subject matter. All have their own ways of expressing their views, in ways that cannot be put into paper. You're just going to have listen to them! The point, I took in many ways on how they each prepare, how they converse, how they manage. Ive also tuned into many other talk show hosts across the dial and gathered observations on how they present their content. Pal - The year 2020 is an election year WBOB has been a must listen to alternative for educated voters. How do you envision the Rhode To Liberty 's affect on voter's decisions? DJ - As a liberty-minded conservative independent, my goal for my listeners is to be able to think for themselves. I want to create discussion & thought by giving you perspectives & opinions you might not hear anywhere else. I am not bias with any political party. I think that's huge. Being bias only gives a one-sided view on things political. Liberty is what the focus is, to discuss anything with honesty and integrity freely. Pal - If you could interview one person who would it be and why? DJ - That's a tough question! Thought to choose, from ball players to famous people, there's so many I would've loved to have met let alone interview. Being a history nerd, I think Robert E Lee would be a person I wouldve wanted to interview. A military mastermind and a person to have many things and truths not told about him. Then there's Presidents Teddy Roosevelt & Kennedy. Both similar in ways. They spoke to the people, not at. Both gentleman and leaders during growing times who were anti establishment, thus being wanted out by many. Three baseball players that were some of my idols: Ricky Henderson, Bo Jackson & Gregg Maddox. Henderson was a master of stealing bases, Jackson was a 3 sport athlete and Maddox was a wizard on the mound that could also field is own position as a pitcher. Pal - Years from now how would you like your work on 990WBOB to be remembered? DJ - Years from now, I still hope to be entertaining people from behind the mic. If this turns into a career, great. If not, great. It's a passion of mine to be on radio. I am grateful for the chances to be doing what I love. I want people to know that. It is in my greatest and future desire that people have found me to be different and engaging; different! All of that I strive to be. I speak from the heart. To be genuine. That's what I would like people remember me and my work. Read More 990WBOB |
