Taste Test: Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And as a New Englander on the go every morning, I hit up the nearest Dunkin’ to get my breakfast.

Following in the trend of releasing meatless-based meals in the fast food industry, Dunkin had debuted the Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich a couple of months ago. I had previously sampled another meatless sandwich in the Impossible Whopper so I was looking forward to tasting this Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich.
I went to my nearest Dunkees, got myself the Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich (and a Dunkin coffee to wash it down cause why not), and prepared to satisfy my hunger.

Upon getting the sandwich, you can notice how there is a little more weight to it than the other breakfast sandwiches. It seemed they used a little more egg compared to their normal breakfast sandwiches, which you won’t get any complaints out of me on that. The meatless sausage patty they used for the sandwich seemed a little thicker compared to their normal meat sausage patty in other breakfast sandwich.

But upon first bite, I wasn’t really impressed by the taste of the actually meatless sausage patty. There was a tinge of spiciness to it but other than that, there was no really juicy flavor compared to something like the Impossible Whooper patty. It felt a little fluffy in texture, almost like whipped cream cheese, but was still heavy in weight.

The English muffin bread that they used was a little too soft for liking, however. It really wasn’t toasted as much. Rather it was more like warm bread, which is a bit of bleh factor for me.

Still, the breakfast sandwich was able to fill my morning appetite (mission accomplish I guess?).

Overall, the Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich is a decent breakfast sandwich. It won’t blow you away per say like some of the other items on the menu (i.e. the peppered bacon breakfast sandwich). There could be some improvements on it (i.e. toasting the English muffin a little more for a crunchy texture) but it’s a good holdover until lunch.

Score:

3 out of 5 Bobheads and an XL Coffee with cream, sugar, and a turbo shot
