Christian Martinelli Everyone has been chomping at the bit for another food review from me since I tore apart the $1 Taco at Burger King, so here I am making so many wishes come true. This week, I’m reviewing the Big Scoop Cookie Dough Sundae from Sonic. I decided I was going to take my lactose intolerant ass down to Sonic to try their new sundae. I never let my lactose intolerance starve me, because my sweet tooth is much stronger than my will to be physically comfortable. I was extremely excited going into this taste test, because you can’t really screw up cookie dough and ice cream. Right? It’s a classic combo. One of my all time favorites. This sundae was $3 and is comprised of vanilla ice cream, a heavy caramel drizzle, tons of little cookie dough balls, and one golf ball sized cookie dough ball on top. In theory, it sounds like a can’t miss type of dessert, but Sonic found a way to make this one miss the mark. Or at least my heart. I hate myself for saying it because I wanted to make it my new favorite dessert, but if I can’t finish eating something, there has to be something off about it. I’m a thiccc boy and I’m not here to deny it. I’m no stranger to feasting on a dessert or five. The big scoop sundae was just that, a big scoop. Actually much too big of a scoop for my liking. The sundae itself was extremely tasty, but there was just too much cookie dough for a sundae of that size. It was a richness overload, and felt like a punch to the kidney after about six or seven sugary bites. It’s a killer combo, we all know that, but Sonic really over-killed it with the sugar which made it hard to get down. Now if you’re a sugar freak, you will love this. If not, this will be way too much, and not worth all those damn calories. I’d go for a normal cookie dough sundae any day of the year before having to indulge in this sugar rush ever again. Sonic, rollerblade back to the test kitchen, because this has the potential to be a mainstay on the menu. For now, I don’t recommend unless you’re in the mood to go into a sugar induced coma. Let me tell you it wasn’t great on my dairy rejecting stomach either, I’ll spare you the details. Verdict: Too rich for my blood Grade: C+ (great idea, subpar execution) Read More 990WBOB |
